You must admit Fendi are pretty amazing. You have to admire any company that will charge over £400 for a raffia bag with a canvas lining. Admittedly the Matrioska Raffia tote does also come with silver leather trim and a zip fastening pocket on the inside but puh...lease!

 

The Fendi line started with Adele Casagrande in 1918 in Rome as a leather and fur store. When she married she changed the name in honour of her husband, Edoardo Fendi and as the brand became more successful the couple's five daughters joined the family firm.

 

Karl Lagerfeld is credited for designing the signature double F logo for Fendi and for the successful launch in 1966 of the Fendi's first fur couture line. Eventually when the Fendi sisters wanted something special to be worn by models under the furs, the Fendi couture line was born.

 

There are genuine Fendi articles for sale on eBay at very reasonable prices but unless something has been very roughly used you would not expect a Fendi anything to go for 10% of its RRP (recommended retail price) so let common sense be your guide. There are many fakers that would happily remove you from your hard earned cash for a Made in Taiwan copy.
